BILL PARR
A Little Of This & A Little Of That ...
This mockup is based on a photo by Nancy Scull. The original was an invitation given to Mrs. Parr for a showing at an Artist’s Reception (Nancy was commisioned by the Steel Co. to take black & white photos of the closed plant). This reception was held on September 7, 2005 at the Historic Hotel Bethlehem. Bethlehem, Pennsylvania was the headquarters of Bethlehem Steel. In making the mockup shown here, I took the original 4 x 6 postcard and copied it on a Lexmark Inkjet Copier. I copied it to a cream colored paper {my thought was to portray a color of cooled off steel}. I increased the size by 200%. It gave the original black and white photo a sepia effect, I then cut the window area away allowing a photo shot straight in the air of the sky. I chose to only use a little of window as the original did not show a roof line on the left side. I then glued the sky to the back of the cream colored copy. The foreground under the truck was a photo shot at ground level of a blacktop driveway. That was placed at the bottom of the mockup. The model truck “End of an Era” was in my possession and this was made available to employees of the plant when it closed.
